Here are the three reasons why I oppose the Del-Mar natural gas pipeline.

  1. It is outdated technology. Natural Gas isn’t a form of green energy. It is an energy that prevents us from addressing the climate crisis we face. By the way, we already face tidal flooding and other effects of climate change on the Shore today. These issues will worsen, putting historic communities on the Shore at risk of being washed away unless we address this crisis now. Not five years from now. Now.

2. We need to be global leaders once more. Most countries are moving towards renewable green energy and away from outdated and dirty fuels like natural gas. The Eastern Shore and Maryland should strive to be world leaders in green energy and science not settling for outdated pipelines because some damn lobbyist that doesn’t even live here is willing to give campaign contributions to some of our elected officials.

I grew up learning about how America used to lead the world on science, jobs, and innovation. There was an American dream, and people did better than the generations before them. Countries looked up to us for guidance. The American I grew up in gave up on the dream and has fallen behind.

If you are a member of the current generation of elected leaders and not committed to doing what is necessary to make a country and region world leaders again, then get the hell out of the way and let us step in.

3. It would destroy the pristine natural beauty of the Eastern Shore. The most significant issue with these kinds of pipelines is not if they will leak. It is when they will leak damaging the environment around it. Does the Eastern Shore need to modernize and change some of our thinking to compete in modern times? Yes.

Do we need to destroy the natural beauty that this region has and can not be found anywhere? Absolutely not.
